Patterning Definitions with Examples

Increasing sequence =  Each number is greater than the one before it.

Example: 6,8,10,12,14


Decreasing sequence = Each number is less  than the  one  before it.

Example:  25,23,21,19


The terms  of a sequence are the  number or item in the sequence.

Example:4,7,10,13,16 Terms


A term  number  gives  the  position of each item.

Example:4,7,10,13,16

                       

this is the term number 4  space it is  in the fourth pattern


The core of a pattern is  the part that repeats itself.

Example:(? + =) ? + = ? + =

                     

        This  is the core of  the  pattern
